Glen Hoffmann

April 5, 1939 — December 23, 2014

Glen C. Hoffmann, 75, of Three Lakes, WI, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander, WI, as the result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

He was born April 5, 1939 in Wausau, WI, son of the late Cyrus Andrew and Cecelia E. (Eckes) Hoffmann. Glen received his education at Newman High School, graduating in 1957. He continued his education at Spencerian College in Milwaukee, WI where he obtained his Business Administration degree. From 1965 to 1971 he served in the Vietnam War in the Army National Guard.
He worked at American Motors in production control until 1965 returning to Wausau where he and his father purchased Hatley Veneer. In 1988 they sold the business to Juken Sangyo Company from Hiroshima, Japan, which later was purchased by Besse Forrest Products. Glen continued to serve as Manager and President until it's closing in 2009. He was a hard worker and took great pride in the manufacture of hardwood veneer. Glen was a long time member of Holy Name of Jesus Parish and the Elks Lodge both in Wausau.

He married LaVerne Nelson in Sister Bay, WI on September 24, 1966.
For the past six years he has made his home in Three Lakes, WI where he enjoyed spending time fishing and swimming with his grandchildren, watching sunsets and the traffic on the lake, hunting in the Nicolet with his son in law, visiting his favorite spot on Bailey Lake, and feeding and caring for the many deer that visited his backyard. He took the greatest pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren and will always be remembered fondly for his generous spirit.

Glen is survived by his wife LaVerne, two daughters Lynne (Todd) Johnson of Rib Mountain, WI and Yvonne (Gerald Mortensen) Hoffmann of Wausau, three grandchildren Nathan Johnson, Zachary Johnson and Cecelia Hoffmann, one sister Colleen (C. Robert) Thompson of Florida and Three Lakes, and his special dog companion Brodie. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Memorial Mass will be held at 1100 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 1104 South 9th Avenue Wausau. Rev. Tom Huff will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2015 at the church. You may sign our family guest book at www.helke.com.
