Glen Opichka

Glen Opichka, 81, of Kronenwetter, WI, passed away peacefully at the Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau, surrounded by his wife and two daughters, on January 24, 2025.

Glen was born on April 8, 1943, in Wausau, WI, son of the late Genevieve (Stencil) and Clarence Opichka. He married Marlene Kort on December 19, 1970, in Rothchild and went on to have two daughters, Catrice and Carrie.

Glen retired from James River, Wausau, WI, as the Superintendent of the Finishing and Cutting Departments after 35 years. However, if you asked Glen what he was most proud of, he would have told you it was being a Vietnam Veteran. Glen was proud to have served his country and was honored to be invited to participate in the Never Forgotten Honor Flight in May 2017.

Glen enjoyed fishing and spending time "Up North" in their home in Eagle River and enjoyed boating with his family. Of all that he loved, Glen had an immense compassion and love for his dogs. Through the years, he cherished his pups Shelly, Seneka, Monique, Max, Maddy, and Tucker.

Glen is survived by his wife, Marlene (Kronenwetter, WI), daughters Catrice (Jim Otstott) Opichka (Bow, WA) and Carrie (Bill) Dalgetty (Tomahawk, WI), and four grandchildren, Arianna Schreiner, Logan Schreiner, Mason Schreiner, and Aiden Schreiner. Glen is further survived by other relatives and friends. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, as well as brothers Bill Stencil, BJ Opichka and Peter Opichka, and sister, Carol Hintz.

A Celebration of Glen's Life will take place on Saturday, February 1 at St. John's Lutheran Church ELCA, 5304 44th Avenue, Wausau, WI., at 11 am with Pastor Maggie Westaby presiding. A visitation will be held from 9-11 am. A private burial will be held in Spring.
