Gloria Wiederhoeft

Gloria was born March 16, 1922, the daughter of the late Erwin and Erna (Fischbach) Hoff, in the town of Hamburg. Gloria was a devoted lifelong member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church – Hamburg. Shortly after graduating from Athens High School, she was united in marriage to Harold R. Wiederhoeft, on December 13, 1941. For over 25 years, she worked at Marathon Cheese Corp. and developed many friendships while there.

She will be lovingly remembered by her family. Gloria was a wonderful cook, especially talented in making a variety of delicious pies. She enjoyed watching the Packers, even up to last week's game, traveling with friends, listening to country western music, gardening, and was an avid reader.

At the age of 88, Gloria died peacefully on January 22, 2011, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, with her family by her side. She was currently residing at Wausau Manor.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Marilyn (Laverne) Grunenwald, Wausau, Jean (John) Reed, Mosinee, and Bob (Terri) Wiederhoeft, Weston; grandchildren, Steven (Pam) Grunenwald, Greg Grunenwald, Adam (Jeanette) Wiederhoeft, and Amy (Chris) Paape; great-grandchildren, Cody and Logan Grunenwald, and Lillie and Sidney Paape; nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harold, in 1971; and brother, Merlin Hoff.

A celebration of Gloria's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 24th, at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church – Hamburg. The Reverend Phil Bogen will officiate. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Family will receive guests Sunday, January 23rd, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau; and again the day of the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m., at the church.
