Gwendolyn Aschbrenner, 98, of Rib Mountain , died Monday November 3, 2008 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital .





Gwendolyn was born April 3, 1910 in the town of Maine to the late Louis and Albertina (Lueck) Schmieden. She married Ervin Aschbrenner on August 21, 1926 in the town of Hamburg . Ervin preceded her in death on December 31, 1974 . Gwendolyn was a member of the First Maine Homemakers for 50 years, the Women’s Guild at St. Paul ’s UCC and enjoyed reading and traveling.





Survivors include 4 daughters; Joyce Oelke of Rib Mountain, Marlene (Duke) Thurs of Rice Lake, Joan (Vernon) Marquardt of Greenville, Lois (Ronald) Higgins of Del Mar, Calif., 9 sons; Dale (Joyce) Aschbrenner of Estero, Fla., Kenneth (Marlene) Aschbrenner of the town of Maine, Allen (Mary Ann) Aschbrenner of Rib Falls, Larry (Carol) Aschbrenner of Cambridge, Leon (Kitty) Aschbrenner of San Marcos, Calif., Rodney (Lorna) Aschbrenner of Ariz., Fred (Maureen) Aschbrenner of Ireland, Warren (Sue) Aschbrenner of the town of Berlin, and Roy (Barb) Aschbrenner of the town of Hamburg. Gwendolyn is further survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren one brother Harley (Phyllis) Schmieden of Wausau, 2 daughters-in-law Isabel Aschbrenner and Nina Aschbrenner and 3 sisters-in-law Vera, Nancy and Irma Schmieden.





Gwendolyn was preceded in death by two daughters Geraldine Wood and Beverly Albrecht, two sons; Donald and Gene Aschbrenner, two grandsons; Jeff and Michael Wood, one granddaughter Heidi Aschbrenner, three brothers; Duane, Vernon and Merlin Schmieden, and four sisters; Mildred Brehmer, Madeline Radant, Nathalie Booth and Marge Guenther, and three sons-in-law; Wallace Oelke, Kenneth Wood and Henry Albrecht.





Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday November 8, 2008 at St. Paul ’s United Church of Christ, Wausau . Officiating will be the Reverend Mary Kay Sauter. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m until 7 p.m. at the Helke Funeral home, Wausau , and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
