Harriet Voigt

Harriet C. Voigt, 93, of the Town of Wausau, passed away on Sunday morning, June 5, 2011 at her home under the care of her son, Kenneth, granddaughter, Jamie, and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice. She lived three days shy of her 94th birthday. She was born to the late George and Lila Ida (Jojade) Hetzel on June 8, 1917 in the Town of Texas. Harriet attended school in the Town of Texas and has lived in the area all of her life. She married Meldon Voigt on August 21, 1937 in the Town of Wausau.
Harriet was most comfortable outside enjoying the outdoors. She loved tending her vegetable and floral gardens, especially the Lilacs and Petunias, relished the scent of Roses, and mowing her lawn. Harriet also kept busy reading, sewing, and taking pleasure in making her own clothes. She always took special care of her family, keeping the house neat and tidy, and took pleasure in cooking family meals every noon for her son, granddaughter and herself. She enjoyed traveling occasionally and took a cruise to Mexico. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Stewart Ave., Wausau.
Harriet is survived by her son, Kenneth of Wausau; granddaughter, Jamie of Wausau; a sister-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Meldon; parents; and sister, Gertrude Werges.
A funeral service for immediate family will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau, with the Rev. Joel Brandt officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
