Harvey Strehlow

October 8, 1929 — December 31, 2007

Harvey G. Strehlow, 78, town of Easton, died Monday, December 31, 2007 at Hospice House.

He was born October 8, 1929 in Wausau to the late Ben and Bertha (Hoffman) Strehlow. Harvey served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Purple Heart. After his service in Korea, Harvey married Doris Degner on June 27, 1953 in Wausau. Harvey and Doris farmed for over 50 years in the town of Easton and took great pride in the way he operated his farm. He was a dedicated and extremely active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, town of Easton. He was a firefighter with the Town of Easton Fire Department for 44 years. His hobbies included listening to Polka music, collecting rocks and eagle statutes, as well as traveling. Harvey will always be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Doris of the town of Easton, one son, John (Carol) Strehlow of the town of Easton, one daughter, Diana Buska of Schofield and friend Kevin King, three granddaughters, Jennifer (Randy) Glapinski of Ringle, Jill (Al) Koskelin of Middleton, Amanda Buska of Wausau, and two great grandchildren, Hailey and Jacob Glapinski, one sister, Alice (Norman) Matsche of Godfrey, Ill., two sister-in-laws, Ann Strehlow and Bonnie Strehlow of Wausau. Harvey was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Lester and one sister, Dorothy.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2008 at St. John's Lutheran Church, town of Easton. Reverend Timothy Coppersmith will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Helke Funeral Home and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
