Hugh D. Reardon, 68, died suddenly at his home in Wausau, Wisconsin, on Saturday, October 13, 2012.
He was born August 22, 1944, in Brockton, MA, the son of the late Hugh and Edna Reardon. He graduated from Brockton High School in 1963, before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Providence College. In 1977, he and his family moved to Wausau, Wisconsin where he began a wonderful 34-year career with Marathon Electric, now a Regal Beloit company.
While with the company, he was proud to have attended the University of Wisconsin Executive Program and also to have earned his Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. He was an accomplished professional who touched the lives of many over the course of a successful and prosperous career.
Hugh is survived by his adoring wife, Margi, whom he married on October 16, 1993. They shared 19 years together, filled with love, laughter and wonderful memories. They loved to travel together and to share life's simple pleasures. Survivors also include his four children, sons, David, Okinawa Japan, and Michael (Holly) Reardon, Madison, WI, daughter, Kathleen, Hendersonville, TN, and step-daughter , Mindy (Jon) Buchberger, Marathon, WI; four beautiful grandchildren, Joseph, Clare, Audrey, and Mya; as well as two brothers, Timothy and Robert. Hugh was preceded in death by four of his siblings, brothers, John and Patrick, and sisters, Margaret and Nora.
During his early years in Wausau, Hugh was an active member of the Wausau Area Jaycees. He was also a hockey enthusiast, both playing and coaching for the Wausau Cyclones and coaching for his son, David, with the Wausau Area Youth Hockey Association. Those who knew Hugh well were always inspired by his love of learning and his deep passion for reading. He loved listening to blues and jazz, often while relaxing in his backyard. In recent years, he had developed an interest in kayaking and might have been seen paddling down the Wisconsin River.
Hugh will be remembered and honored as a true professional, a coach, a mentor, a lifelong learner, a brother, an uncle, a friend, a devoted grampy and papa, a father, and a loving husband. He will be missed greatly. Out of love and respect for Hugh's wishes, no funeral services will be held.
