Irene A. Haebig (nee Eberhardy), went to her eternal life on October 2, 2012. Irene was born April 11, 1923, in Stratford, WI, to the late John and Theresa (Weister) Eberhardy. Irene was raised in Edgar, WI, and graduated from Edgar High School.
Irene married Clarence (Bob) Haebig on June 22, 1944. Bob passed away on June 15, 1990. They lived in Marshfield, Kenosha, and Merrill before settling in Wausau.
Mom was a homemaker for many years, raising their 11 children. In later years, Mom was a waitress at the former Holiday Inn.
Mom was an excellent cook and baker; Saturday mornings were filled with the smell of cinnamon rolls baking in the oven, homemade cowboy cookies, brownies, and homemade bread served with every delicious meal. Mom was a Charter Member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and in her earlier years a member of Fatima Council. Mom's faith was extremely important to her and she showed that by how she lived her life.
The last few years of Mom's life were very hard for her. She fought as hard and as long as she could. She is now with Dad and Dianne in Heaven, pain free and happy again.
Irene is survived by her three daughters, Mary (Henry) Holm, Gail (Kent) Zak, and Ellen (Ronald) Ebeling. She is also survived by her seven sons, Kenneth, Ronald (Noreen), Ed, Thomas (Joan), Gerard (Susan), Kurt (Carla), and Charles (Ellen).
Irene was a grandma to 30 grandchildren, and a great-grandma to 35 great-grandchildren.
Irene is further survived by her siblings, Marion (Orville) Wetterau, Dolores Eberhardy, Arnold (Florence) Eberhardy, and Florence Beilke.
Irene was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Bob; daughter, Dianne Smith; daughter-in-law, Karen Haebig; and great-grandchild, Hannah Haebig. She was also predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine (Leonard) Socha; brother, Norbert Eberhardy; and brother-in-law, Richard Beilke, Sr.
