Irene Krueger

Irene A. Krueger, 95, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015, at Colonial Manor of Wausau. She was born at home on June 23, 1920 in Wausau to Frank and Minnie (Bergman) Meyer.

Irene graduated from Wausau High School in 1939. She married Clarence H. Krueger on June 20, 1942. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1994.

Prior to her marriage, Irene was a sales clerk at Kresge's, where she used her artistic talent to create window displays. While in her fifties, she was a housekeeper at the Landmark Hotel for several years.

Irene was a proud mother of Dawn, born in 1951, and Aaron, born in 1953.

She enjoyed sewing, reading, crossword puzzles, corresponding with friends, playing Bingo, and watching Jeopardy. She was a great cook, and she knitted mittens and scarves for family. She also embroidered countless beautiful dish towels and pillowcases.

Irene is survived by her children, Dawn Krueger and Aaron Krueger, and her special daughter-in-law, Diane, all of Wausau; her sister's son, Alan (Bernadette) Rux of Sterling, Massachusetts; sister-in-law, Vernice Krueger of Pflugerville, Texas; several cousins; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jan and Don Jaeger of Salina, Kansas and Alice and Ray Deckelman of Wausau.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; parents; and her beloved sister, Isabel Rux.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Rib Mountain Lutheran Church, 3010 Eagle Ave., town of Rib Mountain, with Rev. Timothy Swanson officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, town of Texas.
