Irene Grace Garske Paris, 87, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2014, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services and Kennedy Park.
Irene was born May 2, 1927, in Wausau and is the daughter of the late Stella Garske Matis and Charles Schultz. She was a graduate of Wausau High School. On October 6, 1945, she married the love of her life, Joseph E. Paris. Their lives were spent enjoying life together, fishing, camping, and family. He preceded her in death in September of 1988.
Irene was a hard worker, in her younger days she worked for Wright's Music and Pied Piper Shoes. Later, she worked for Nosco, Inc. in Waukegan, Illinois as a secretary. After moving back to Wausau, she worked for GTE as a supervisor. In 1989 she began working as a part-time school secretary and continued for 20 years, retiring at the age of 80.
Irene's greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joe, she is preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Lasky, and her grandparents.
Survivors include her daughter, Lorie (Leonard) Duberstein, and her children, William (Becky) Schmidt and Amanda (Cory) Skilling; great-grandsons, Hunter and Kenny Skilling; step-grandkids, Barb Fry, Bruce Duberstein, and Randy (Stephanie) Duberstein; step-great-grandchildren, Devin, Kaylee, and Alyssa Fry, and Peyton, Marcus, and Tyler Duberstein.
