Irene Selby

Irene Ann (Miller) Selby, 92, of Wausau, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2012 at Care Partners Assisted Living under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. She was born to the late Andrew and Stella (Sobkowiak) Miller on March 4, 1920 in Hatley, Wis. Irene attended St. James Catholic School and graduated from Wausau High School.
Irene was the Marathon County Deputy Register of Deeds from 1945-1955 and worked as a salesperson during her career at Prange's, Sears, and Heinemann's Department Store. She enjoyed music, bowling, plays, and concerts. Irene was also an avid reader and liked working crossword puzzles. Irene was a member of Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Irene is survived by her son, Michael (Kendy) Selby; daughter, Alexis (Gary) Taylor-Boll; grandchildren, Dalton and Devon Boll, Mark Selby, Meghan Brodhead, and Ryan Selby, nephew, Father Jerome Schroeder; and niece, Jeanne Schroeder.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Peter Miller, Edmund Miller, and Carl Miller; sister, Mary Schroeder; and five siblings during infancy.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2012, at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau, with Father Jerome Schroeder officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 12 noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Private entombment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park-Gardens of Eternal Rest Mausoleum, Wausau.
