Isabel Emma Fredericka Lemke, 95, Wausau, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 22, 2011, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Our House Senior Living, Wausau.
Isabel was born July 11, 1916 in Wausau to the late Charles and Louise (Behm) Wilke. Throughout her life, she was devoted to her faith and church, being a member of the Wausau Bible Church since 1947. She married Bernard "Benny" Lemke on May 1, 1971 in Wausau. He preceded her in death on August 4, 2005.
She was employed at the former Wausau Memorial Hospital, Toburen Studio and the Wausau school hot lunch program. Isabel enjoyed playing baseball in her younger years as well as traveling. She and her longtime friend, La Verne, loved singing hymns for nursing home residents. Isabel took daily walks up until recently. Isabel and Benny loved their time together, especially on their many trips throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Canada visiting friends, family, and state fairs. They had homes in Wausau and Mesa, AZ.
Isabel is survived by her brother-in-law, Myron Block, sisters-in-law, Ardell Lemke and Charlotte Lemke, and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Isabel is preceded in death by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn (Oscar) Schaumburger, Gladys (Harry) Dorvinen, Lucile (Charles) Tillmans, Louise (Marcus) Zumann, sister-in-law, Grace Block, brothers-in-law, Frederick and Marcus Lemke, niece, Susan Tillmans, and nephews, Roger Schaumburger and Robert Dorvinen. With Isabel's passing, the family is all together again.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Wausau Bible Church, 1300 Grand Ave., with the Reverend Dennis Clark officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau and again Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Online condolences may be given at helke.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Wausau Bible Church.
