Iva M. Winn, Wausau, 93, passed away June 20, 2011, under Palliative Care at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones.
Iva was born July 23, 1917 in Superior, WI and was the second of four children, born to Charles and Meada (Winslow) Phipps. She graduated from Superior East High School in 1936 and then became employed as a sales clerk. In superior, on May 7, 1942, she married Walter G. Winn, of Ironwood, MI. In 1953, they moved to Wausau, WI, where they lived the rest of their days.
Iva spent many summers in Lake Tomahawk, WI, where she owned a small trailer house. She enjoyed the outdoors. Her hobbies included fishing, swimming, playing cards, and going to the casino. She also enjoyed sitting around a campfire, with a beer in hand, having a good time with family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Iva was preceded in death by her brother, Ray Phipps, and her sister Etta Belle (Phipps) Rocheleau.
She is survived by her sister, Lona May (Phipps) Rognerod; niece, Susan Meyer; nephews, Scott Rocheleau, Walter Rognerod, David Rognerod, Christian Rognerod, J. Gregory Winn, Thomas Winn, Robert Winn; and special friends, Jamie Buettner and Carrie Mahlum.
