Jack A. Volkman, 85, Wausau, died Friday, December 18, 2015 at North Central Health Care.
He was born on December 9, 1930 in Wausau, the son of the late Albert and Hilda (Raduechel) Volkman.
As a young man, Jack ran his own TV and radio repair shop in Wausau, and for many years he was often seen bicycling or walking around his beloved hometown. He was a life-long member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church of Wausau, including many years participating in the church choir and dartball team. Over the past several years, Jack was a happy resident of the Evergreen unit at North Central Health Care, where he made fast friends with staff members, volunteers and fellow residents. Jack especially enjoyed his friendship with special volunteers Dan and Helen Allen.
Survivors include his sister, Marge (Roger) Zweck of Wausau; and nephews Craig (Kelly) Zweck and Brad (Kim) Zweck, both of Wausau, and their children.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 512 McClellan St., Wausau. Reverend Jennifer Dahle will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. You may sign our family guestbook at helke.com.
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of North Central Health Care for their many years of excellent, caring service for Jack. Any memorial donations can be directed to the North Central Health Care Foundation.
