James “Jim” Sekaney, 82, of Wausau passed away on October 28, 2024. Jim was born on January 30, 1942, to the late Jerry and Mabel Sekaney in Byrant, Wisconsin.

Jim graduated from Antigo High School and then enlisted in the United States Army. He then served in the Vietnam War. After the war, he met his wife Carol J. Mohr. Jim and Carol were married at St. Stephen Lutheran Church on August 29, 1970. Together they had four beautiful children: Troy, Thomas, Tracy and Heather.

His working career included Wausau Homes and Krueger Floral. Jim also painted houses on the side. He sustained a back injury from a hunting accident in 1991. Jim persevered and recovered from this injury and returned to work for Kolbe and Kolbe until retirement in 2010.

Jim loved to hunt and fish. Some of his favorite places included the Prairie River, Indian Lake, Post Lake Dam and Pelican Lake. Jim loved catching rainbow trout on Larson Lake. He enjoyed the woods with his dog Sam. Jim was a loving father who also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren Ashton and Chloe.

Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years Carol, his son Troy Sekaney, daughter Heather Sekaney and grandchildren Ashton and Chloe. Also surviving are his sisters Nancy Matuszweski, Sharon Prange, June Christensen and many nieces and nephews. Jim is also survived by long time friend Don Kohnhorst of Wausau and his beloved dog Angel.
