The family of James "Jim" Erwin Francken is deeply saddened to announce his passing on October 6, 2024, at the age of 78, in his hometown of Wausau, WI, surrounded by loved ones. Born on January 8, 1946, in Wausau, WI, Jim was a proud Army veteran who served our country during the Vietnam War, with his service concluding in 1969.
Jim dedicated many years to 3M, retiring as a supervisor in 2002. His commitment to excellence and leadership made a lasting impact in the manufacturing industry.
Outside of work, Jim found solace in the great outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing adventures with his family. He cherished these moments spent with his loved ones and will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit.
Jim was the beloved husband of Lillian Francken, loving father to Danielle Hertel and Justin (Heidi) Francken. He found great joy in being a grandparent to Austin, Brandon, Kennadi, Grace, Cody, and Jake, filling their lives with love and laughter. Beloved brother of Tina (Mary Sorenson) Francken. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends. Jim is preceded in death by his father, Donald Francken and brother, Daniel.
A private service for Jim will be held at a later date.
In this time of profound loss, we ask for thoughts and prayers for the Francken family as they navigate through their grief. James will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and cherished.
Jim's family would like to thank Sylvan Crossings and Hospice Interim for the special care they gave Jim in his final days.
