Janet Marion Graebner, 83, of Wausau, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Mount View Care Center under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. She was born to Walter and Florence (Pergande) Mischke in Milwaukee on May 13, 1930. Janet was a 1948 graduate of Rufus King High School in Milwaukee and worked as a Medical Secretary at the V.A. Hospital retiring in 1993.
Janet enjoyed activities that centered around her family. Preparing for a holiday was always a joyful time for Janet. The Christmas season and all of the activities that go with it was her favorite time of year. Janet made Christmas stockings for all of her family, including Cribby the cat. She enjoyed needlework, reading, working Sudoku puzzles, and fishing.
She will miss her dear friends that she made while working at the V.A. Hospital and from Al-Anon, as well as her quilting friends at St. John Lutheran Church, town of Maine, Wausau, WI.
Janet is survived by her two children, Melissa (Dr. Grant) Young and their children, Samuel and Katherine, of Wausau; and Selene (Greg) Lofquist and their children, Rebecca and Olivia, of Soddy Daisy, TN; sister, Doris (George) Kasdorf of Brookfield, WI; and nieces, Melinda (Jim) Textor of Westfield, NJ, Dr. Gayle Kasdorf (Dick Schmeling) of New Franken, WI, Dr. Cheryl Kasdorf of Cottonwood, AZ, and Marcia (Brad) Kolstad of Woodbury, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Florence; sister-in-law, Lila; brother-in-law, Herbert; and nephew, David Rose.
A memorial service will be at 12 noon on Friday, January 17, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church, 5304 North 44th Avenue, town of Maine, with Rev. Dan Sire officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
