Janice Liebers

December 2, 1948 — March 18, 2013

Janice Kay Liebers passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013, at her Schofield home after a brief fight with Gall Bladder Cancer. She was the only child of Bernice Emily (Krueger) Liebers and the late Herbert B. Liebers of the town of Pine River, Lincoln County, Wisconsin.
Janice was born in December 1948, graduated from Merrill Senior High School in 1966, and later received an Associate Degree in accounting with high honors from Northcentral Technical College. Over the years, she worked for several companies in the local area. First as an estimator of aluminum switch and dial thermostat plates for Wilson-Hurd Mfg. Then, traveling many miles as a District Administrative Representative and establishing regional offices in paper chemicals for the Calgon Corporation, a subsidiary of Merck Pharmaceuticals, and finally as the bookkeeper for payroll, accounts payable, and human resources department for Family Planning Health Services until her health required her to retire at the end of July 2012.
Janice was an avid reader over the years with both the Lincoln and Marathon County Library Departments. She enjoyed needlepoint and art, working in oils, and pen and ink. She also became involved with Marathon County's original Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Victims Programming, now known as The Women's Community to protect women against domestic abuse, which in turn led her to joining the local Jaycee Women's Group for Marathon County, which again led, in turn to the development of the first safe house in the Marathon County area. Janice retired as president of the Jaycee Women's Group, when the two organizations, Jaycees and Jaycee Women, were finally required to merge into one total organization, The Jaycees.
Soon after that time, she became involved with the beloved cottage that she and her mother discovered on a walk along beautiful Lake Michigan's shore in Door County. They spent many summer nights enjoying savory meals of fish boils and glorious bbq rib feasts, not to mention all those campfires with hot dogs, s'mores, and sing alongs on those starry nights with friends from Illinois and the Door Peninsula.
Janice is survived by her mother, Bernice Liebers of Schofield; and cousins, Anna Schult and Christine Schult, both of Wausau, June (Nick) Chapko of San Antonio, TX, Debi (Jeff) Bearad of Schertz, TX, and numerous other cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert B. Liebers; grandparents; aunts; and uncles.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Restlawn Memorial Chapel, 4710 N. Troy Street, Wausau, with Chaplain Cindy Bachara of Ministry Home Care Hospice, officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service in the chapel. Burial will take place following the service in Restlawn Memorial Park.
You may sign the family guestbook at www.helke.com.
Janice would like to thank special friends Kathy Karau, Lyle Karau, Debi Fecteau, Alison and Gary Mayer, Tracy and Mike Osborn, Chandra Witter, Marshall Blaskowski, and special four-pawed friend, Mutsy. Plus all of the medical team, including Dr. Onitilo and the wonderful staff at Marshfield Oncology, my dear caretakers at St. Clare's Hospital and at Ministry Home Health and Hospice.
"Remember me when the flowers bloom, early in the spring. Remember me on sunny days in the fun that summer brings. Remember me in the fall as you walk through the leaves of gold and in the wintertime in the stories that are told. But most of all remember each day right from the start, I will be forever for I live within your heart." -Anonymous
