Janis Henning

Janis J. Henning, 82, of Wausau, passed away Friday, November 11, 2016, at the Hospice House under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Janis was born May 20, 1934, in the Town of Hamburg, WI, daughter of the late Leonard and Edna (Haehlke) Wendt. She married Raymond Henning on September 15, 1956 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Town of Hamburg. Raymond and Janis were dairy farmers for over 30 years. She loved spending hours working in her garden and was known to try and get to every greenhouse in town to find the perfect flowers and plants.
Though not having children of their own, Ray and Janis treasured every moment with their nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; loading the kids into the car at Christmas time to look at the lights, riding the pontoon boat around the lake, playing pool in the basement are just of few of their favorite memories.
Ray and Janis spent time traveling together, visiting Nashville, Branson, Sacramento, CA and Arizona; they also enjoyed playing sheepshead in card clubs together.
She enjoyed listening to classic country and polka music. She looked forward to listening to Willies Roadhouse on the car radio and Molly B on Saturday nights.
Janis was a very loving, caring, funny and generous woman.
She is survived by two sisters, Jean Krueger of Wausau and Marcella Steidinger of Marathon City and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Janis was preceded in death by her husband Ray, nephew Allan Krueger, brother Orville Wendt and nephew Steve Krueger.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. (noon), Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at St. John Evangelical Church, Town of Maine. Reverend Dan Sire will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church, burial will follow in the church cemetery.
