Jay Trantow

Jay Trantow, 55, of Wausau passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born November 17, 1960 in Wausau to the late Elroy and Sylvia (Jablonski) Trantow. Jay attended St. Anne's grade school and was a graduate of Wausau West High School. In 1986, he moved to Clearwater Beach, Florida and later became a mail carrier for the US Postal Service. He lived in Florida until moving back to Wausau in 2008. It was then he reconnected with Jenny (Luedtke) Darelius and they were married on June 16, 2012.

Jay was a gifted artist and enjoyed drawing nature, animals and silly pictures for his family. In his spare time, he fished for trout, hunted for deer, played darts and was an avid Packer fan. He also had a green thumb and was known for raising many different kinds of flowers, especially Roses.

Survivors include his wife, Jenny of Wausau, daughter, Alicia (Matt) Richmond of Weston, two step sons, Jake (Melissa) Darelius of Concord, NH, Lucas Darelius of Wausau, five siblings, Sherry Ristau of Marathon, John Trantow of Aspen, CO, Skip (Toni) Trantow of Portland, OR, Mark Trantow of Mesa, AZ, Robin (Melissa) Trantow of Wausau, mother-in-law, Mildred Luedtke of Wausau, nieces, nephews and his lab, Bella. Jay was further preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Russell Ristau and father-in-law, George Luedtke and his other lab, Bubba.

A service to remember Jay will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 7, 2016 at the Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau. Visitation will be begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
