Jean Krause

Jean Carol Krause, 82, Wausau, died Wednesday, February 09, 2011 under the care of the Palliative Care Unit at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Jean was born December 17, 1928 in Wausau to the late Edwin and Mertelle (Chaignot) Otto. She married Albert Donald Krause on April 12, 1947 at St. James Catholic Church in Wausau. A dedicated homemaker, Jean and Albert raised their four children, Donald, Steven, Ronald and Kristin in a loving home. Jean and Albert celebrated 53 years together prior to Albert's death on March 15, 2001.

Jean rarely missed an opportunity to indulge in her favorite pastime, shopping. As part of the "Shopping Bags", she would travel all over to flea markets, antique and craft shows. In her later years, Jean began to go hiking in parks and along woodland trails seeing the wonder of nature. One of her favorite activities was to go up the cottage that Albert and she built and spend time with family. At home, Jean enjoyed crossword puzzles and feeding the birds that would visit.

Jean is survived by her children, Donald (Luann), Steven, Ronald all of Wausau and Kristin (Paul) Glienke of Plover; grandchildren, Leslie Keefe, Christopher Krause, Craig Glienke and Aaron Glienke; great-granddaughters, Riley and Ella Keefe; brother, Ronald Otto; and many more extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Edwin and Sharon.

There will be a visitation on Friday, February 11, 2011 at Helke Funeral Home beginning at 4:00 PM and lasting until 7:00 PM. Burial will be 10:00 AM on Saturday February 12 at Restlawn Memorial Park. You may sign our family guestbook at www.helke.com.
