Jeffery Crowell, Sr

Jeffery Raymond Crowell Sr., 73, of Wausau, passed away after a sudden illness on January 17, 2014. Jeff was born in Green Bay on June 16, 1940 to the late Neil and Jo Crowell. Jeff graduated from Abbot Pennings High School in DePere and the University of Detroit with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture. He loved his work and he continued in his profession right up until his illness. When he wasn't working you could find him digging in his garden, creating saw dust in his wood shop, or making his custom candles. He was a member and past president of Kiwanis and an officer of Construction Specifications Institute professional organization.

Most of all, Jeff loved being with family. He was the proud father of and survived by his son Jeffery (Suzette) Crowell, Jr. and daughter Mary Jo (Todd) Wiggins. He was Grandpa to Grace, Tess, Sam and Emma. He was the doted-upon brother of and survived by his sisters Sara (Dick) Reichert, Barb (Gene) Laurent, Liz (Marty) Ochs, and Monica (Dick) Peters, as well as brother in law Ron Mammoser. He was Uncle Jeff to many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Jo Crowell and his sister Mary Jo Mammoser.

The family will host a visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau. A prayer service will follow at 1:30 p.m. also at the funeral home, officiated by Father Al Burkhart of St. Anne Parish. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.

In lieu of flowers, Jeff would ask that you go out and perform a random act of kindness. Do something nice for someone not expecting it, that's what Jeff would do.
