Jennette Myer

December 13, 1925 — January 19, 2017

Jennette Doede Myer, 91 went to be with her Lord on January 19, 2017 at Our House Senior Living in Wausau under the care of Aspirus Hospice Services. Jennette had been in declining health for the past several years.

Jennette was born December 13, 1925 in Wausau to Otto Krohn and Rose (Beach) Krohn. She met her future husband, Walter E Doede, at a YMCA dance shortly after Walter returned from Europe after WW II. They were married in Wausau on September 7, 1946.

Together Jennette and Wally raised five children: Donna (Don) Carpenter, Tampa, Florida; Douglas (Christine) Doede, Wausau; Dalinda (Ken) Rowland, Coon Rapids, Minnesota; Daniel Doede; Darlene Caillouette (Jack Fischer), Wausau.

As with most moms with five children, Jennette was very active with school events, church plays, sporting activities, Brownies and Girl Scouts as well as Cub Scouts and "healing" numerous bumps and scrapes. She was particularly adapt at sewing and knitting clothes for the kids and ESPECIALLY making sure that every birthday and Christmas was a very special event. Probably to cope with the kids, Jennette developed an unusual love for lobster and black licorice (although thankfully not at the same time!). We can only hope that this helped.

Jennette and Wally were Charter Members of St Mark's Lutheran Church in Wausau and were very active in the early years of that congregation while the children attended Sunday School and day school at St Mark's.

In Mom and Dad's early years, Jennette was a very busy stay at home mom. After the children were older, Jennette worked as the credit manager at Herbergers and later as the office manager for Drs. Shannon and Andrews. Jennette retired in 1977.

After Wally's retirement in 1978, Wally and Jennette became snowbirds spending winters in Florida, Texas and their favorite location, Lake Mead in Nevada.

Walter passed away in March of 1984. Three years later Jennette married a long time family friend Edwin J Myer. Jennette and Ed continued the trend of escaping Wausau's winters vacationing in warmer climates. Ed passed away in May 1989.

Jennette was preceded in death by Walter, Ed, son, Daniel and sister, Lauretta Tesch. She is succeeded by her other children and their spouses as well as stepsister, Mary Jane Watson. She is also succeeded by 16 grandchildren ; Sean (Christine) Carpenter, Heather (Paul) Kampf, Jeremy Carpenter, Kate (Jake) Suskey, Christopher (Kelcy) Doede, Anne Doede, Mitch (fiancée Jo Williams) Sandquist, Kristy (Trevor) Nelson, Jacki Rowland, Tammi Nail, Jeff (Grethel) Rowland, Melissa Rowland, Ryan Doede, Katie (Matt) Aliota, Tom (Jillian) Caillouette and John (Stefanie) Caillouette. She was also blessed with 8 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Our House for the excellent care provided to Jennette and in the later months the care provided by the staff at Aspirus Hospice Services. We request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to Aspirus Hospice Services Music Therapy program, 425 Pine Ridge Blvd #102, Wausau, WI 54401.

Services will be held Saturday January 28th at St Andrew Lutheran Church, 3200 N Mountain Rd, Rib Mountain. Visitation will be at 11:00AM with the service at 12:00 PM. Pastor Craig Swenson will officiate. Helke Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements; you may sign our family guestbook at helke.com.
