Jerome Schmidt

Jerome C. Schmidt, 78, of the town of Maine passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Jerome was born May 10, 1933 in Wausau to the late Lorton and Irene (Buttke) Schmidt. On September 27, 1959, he married Audrey Storm at St. Stephen United Church of Christ, Merrill. For many years, Jerome grew Ginseng with his sons in the town of Maine and Berlin. He was also self-employed in accounting, insurance, investments and real estate. Jerome was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working in his flower garden always planting and growing more flowers. He was an active member of Cornerstone Church and loved studying the Bible.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Audrey, three sons, Jay, Craig, Kyle (Chris) Schmidt all of Wausau, five grandchildren, Brooke, Brittani, Lily, Emily and Eric Schmidt, two sisters, Sharon Carlsson of Wausau and Jeanne Erdman of Sun Prairie, an aunt, Elvera Krueger, sisters-in-law, Ann Schmidt, Kay (Paul) Walkowicz, Diann Lange and Terry (Bill) Vullings, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorton and Irene Schmidt, his brother, Dorian Schmidt, brothers-in-law, Bill Erdman and Wayne Lange, a niece, Cindy Schmidt and mother and father-in-law, Wilbert and Luella Storm.
Funeral services will be Noon, Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Reverend Steve Grunwald will officiate. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
