Jerome Wiedow

On December 31, 2016, the world lost a great man. Jerome Wiedow, 88, of Wausau, passed away peacefully at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born March 19, 1928 in Wausau to the late Arthur and Sadie (Zahrt).
He was preceded in death by his wife and best friend of 54 years, Joice (Baker). It is a great comfort to his family to know that Joice and Jerry are together again.
Jerry worked for Wisconsin Fuel & Light for many decades and was a proud member of the Wausau Noon Optimist Club. He was well respected by his peers as he came from a generation where his handshake was his word. Jerry was also a charter member of Saint Andrew Lutheran Church in Rib Mountain.
Jerry had two children, Pete and Amy (Lee) Peek, who could not have been more proud to call him Dad. He was a wonderful example of a kind and generous soul. The only thing that he was better at than being a Dad was being a Grandpa. Jerry was born to be a Grandpa. He cherished every minute he spent with his grandchildren, Chase, Hunter, and Alex Wiedow and Maren and Abigail Peek. They are blessed with many memories filled with love and laughter…lots of laughter. Grandpa was an incurable jokester.
Along with his children and grandchildren, he is survived by his brother, Gene (Roselie) Wiedow; sister, Marcy Weinkauf; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
His family invites you to help celebrate his life at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017, at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau, with Pastor Jeff Martinson of Saint Andrew Lutheran Church, Rib Mountain, officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Private burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery, town of Maine.
