Jerry Harvanek

Jerry Harvanek, 83, of Mosinee passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at his home. He is now with the love of his life, Evelyn, who preceded him in death this past February.
Jerry was born on Harvanek Lane in the town of Guenther on May 27, 1931 to the late Valentine and Anna (Maresh) Harvanek. He attended Cole School and then graduated from Mosinee High School. Jerry joined the U.S. Navy in 1949 and served as a gunners mate on the USS Des Moines and the USS Roanoke until 1953. He was currently a member of VFW Mosinee Memorial Post #8733. On May 22, 1954, Jerry married Evelyn Morris in Milwaukee. Jerry was a co-owner of Bob & Jerry's Bar in the town of Guenther for seven years. He also worked at Allis Chalmers, James River Corp and Wausau Tile for many years. After his retirement he worked for several years on various projects with his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Darrell Javorek at Johnson Creek Dairy. Jerry loved to hunt and fish, especially on Lake DuBay and the Wisconsin River.
His survivors include his daughter, Kim (Darrell) Javorek of Mosinee, granddaughter, Jaime (Jason) Rombalski of Liberty, MO, grandson, Steve (Lura) Javorek of Mosinee, four great grandchildren, Jenna, Jesse, and Josiah Rombalski, Ada Mae Javorek and one sister, Josephine Hnanicek of Oak Creek, WI. Jerry was further preceded in death by five brothers, George, Felix, Frank, Valentine and Robert Harvanek and two sisters, Adeline Danecki and Jenny Bondowski.
A celebration of Jerry's life will begin at 4:00 p.m., Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Knowlton Town Hall, 1243 Old Highway 51, Mosinee. Friends may call at the town hall on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
