Joan Nancy (Young) Ballschmieder – Fox, has joined our Heavenly Father in peace and love in heaven. She passed at the age of 88 after a long battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, step-father, step-brother, and husband, Lyle Ballschmieder of over 49 years. She was born on August 17, 1926 and joined other family members and friends on August 2, 2015.
She is survived by her son, Mark Ballschmieder of Mosinee (daughter-in-law, Char) and her daughter, Lynda Kronzer of Minocqua (son-in-law Dr. William). She had four beautiful grandchildren including Matt Kronzer of Minocqua, Meghan (Hughes) N'Cho-Allepot of Oak Park, IL, Sarah (Ryan) Merwin of Mosinee, Lisa (David) Dmytro of Wausau, and eight great-grandchildren, William and Harrison Kronzer, Rhilen Merwin, Jackson-Hughes, Eva-Sloan, Lila-Rose, Hayes-Carter and Grayson-Cooper N'Cho-Allepot, and an extended grandson and long-time family friend, Patrick Osburn of Newport Beach, California.
Joan is also survived by her husband of the last 13 years Eugene "Gene" Fox and his family, including sons, Jeff of Merrill, Brian (Louise) of Merrill, their children Zachary and Rosalie, and daughter, Cynthia Fox (James Malone) and their two children Clare and Michael, of Portland, Oregon.
She is also survived by nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Joan loved to read, fish, and cook for her family. She was an active member at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wausau for over 70 years and loved spending time with her family and gardening. Joan enjoyed time at the family cottage in Minocqua during the summers and taking her grandchildren fishing and swimming. She was known for a really good rhubarb pie and her famous fried chicken at family gatherings that she loved to host.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 630 Adams St., Wausau, with Rev. Sean Motley officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the church until the time of service. Entombment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park - Gardens of Eternal Rest Mausoleum, town of Texas.
