Joan Marie Tetzlaff, 80, Wausau, died Monday, March 14, 2011 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born July 1, 1930 to the late Carl and Amalie (Bessert) Tetzlaff in Wausau.
She will be missed by her brother, John Tetzlaff, Wausau; her sister, Helen Krause, Jefferson; and her many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Tetzlaff, and her sisters-in-law Louise Tetzlaff and Elvera Tetzlaff, and brother-in-law Kenneth Krause.
A lifelong resident of Wausau, Joan was a clerical worker for the Wisconsin River Valley Improvement Company Authority for 48 years, retiring in 1996. She was an active member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Wausau. She sang in the choir, was a member of the bell choir and Rachel circle, and was active in the Quilting Guild, and Jolly Friends. In addition to teaching Sunday school, she also was a member of the Lutheran Women Today organization.
A member of the YWCA, Wausau Gardening Club, and the Business Woman's Association, Joan enjoyed gardening, walking, and reading in her spare time. Joan also loved caring for her cats.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Wausau. Family will receive guests from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Lunch will follow the service at the church. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park on Monday. Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, is assisting the family.
