Joanna Pierzchalski

Joanna Pierzchalski, age 91, passed away at Evergreen Park Assisted Living in Kronenwetter on October 15, 2015.
Joanna was born May 17, 1924 in Hatley to the late August and Anna (Zoromski) Shelbrock. On September 22, 1945, she married Sylvester Pierzchalski at St. Florian's Catholic Church in Hatley. The couple resided in Wausau for most of their lives and were members of Holy Name Catholic Church.
As a couple, Joanna and Sylvester enjoyed visits with their children and grandchildren, fishing, dancing, and taking meticulous care of their yard. Individually, Joanna enjoyed genealogy, archiving, cooking and baking for her family, friends and neighbors. With her natural green thumb and loving care, her flower beds and vegetable gardens flourished and bloomed profusely.
Survivors include her son, Michael (Doris) Pierzchalski of Allenton, WI, daughter, Margaret Thornewell of Toledo, OH, four grandchildren, Michelle Bloomfield, Amy (Cary) Schultz, Jeffrey (Tara) Pierzchalski and Brady Pierzchalski, fourteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Joanna was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester, grandson, Christopher Thornewell and brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau. Father Dan Thelen will officiate. Burial will be in St. Florian's Catholic Cemetery, Hatley. Friends may call on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.

Joanna's children would like to acknowledge and extend a special thank you for the extraordinary and loving care given to their Mother by Tammy and Garry Ruenger, as well as the entire staff at Evergreen Park Assisted Living, during her residence. In addition they would like to say thank you to Aspirus Hospice for their patience, guidance, and care given to them while their mother was receiving Hospice services.
