John H. Klipstein, 98, of Wausau passed away, Monday July 6, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau Hosptial.
John was born March 17, 1917, in Elroy, WI, son of the late Henry J. and Charlotte (McGlivra) Klipstein. He received his bachelor's from UW/Platteville and his master's degree in education from UW/Wisconsin in 1955. John taught school for over 40 years in several different cities , 33 years of which were in the Wausau School District. He was chairman of the science department with John Muir/Horace Mann schools.
John entered the United States Army in 1941 and served his country as a secret radar tech during WWII, receiving an honorable discharge in 1945.
On December 25, 1941 he was united in marriage to Florence Fulmer in Athens, WI and to this marriage a son Lowell was born.
He enjoyed stamp collecting, woodworking, sports and playing softball. John also served as a judge for woodworking projects at area fairs for over 30 years.
John is survived by sister-in-law Dorothy Klipstein of Elroy, WI and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Florence on March 2, 2007 and a son Lowell on June 7, 2005.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St with Pastor Joy Nelson-Jeffers officiating. Burial will be in the Athens Cemetery.
