John H. Treptow passed away peacefully on September 30, 2016 at his home under the care of his friend, Allen, and the help of Aspirus Hospice. He was born September 9, 1920, the son of the late Fred and Francis Ann (Garvey) Treptow.
He was a veteran of World War II in the United States Marines. After his return from serving, he returned to his work in the Claims Department at Employers Insurance, where he retired after 44 years.
Survivors include his friend, companion, and partner of 55 years, Allen Foster; brother, Edward Treptow; children and grandchildren, Suzanna and Jeff Delaney, Hope, Tripp, Bryce, and Sophia; and nieces and nephews.
John enjoyed fishing trips to Blue Lake, Wisconsin and Canada, with friends and also won prizes for the big ones that didn't get away.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark and Levy Treptow, Robert and Margaret Treptow, and Vonney Treptow; niece, Mary Lavin; nephews, Michael Treptow and Robert Treptow; and grandnephews, Alex and Andrew Treptow.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2016, at Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, 621 North Second St., Wausau, with Rev. Robert Schaller officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 8:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wausau, with full military honors.
