June Paul was always there for her family and resilient to whatever life gave her. She was a steady presence in the lives of her daughters, Kristin and Amy. June knew how to listen with empathy and give her love unconditionally.
June was born March 22, 1931 in Appleton to the late Ralph and Pearl (Breitrick) Zachow. After graduating from Appleton High School, June enrolled at Lawrence University where she received her Master’s Degree in Music Education. She began her career in Wausau, where she was the only elementary school music teacher for the Wausau School District. She met her future husband Bill Paul, who was also a fellow teacher. They married in Appleton on June 6, 1964. June had a strong faith in the Lord and worshipped for over 50 years at First United Methodist Church, where she was Director of Music. She had a passion for teaching Piano and loved giving children lessons in her home. In her younger years, June enjoyed flower gardening, traveling and camping.
At the age of 86, June passed away at Northcentral Health Care on Monday, January 1, 2018.
Survivors include her two daughters, Kristin (Meng) Her of Little Elm, Texas, Amy Wheeler of Boulder Junction, five grandchildren, Katie, Courtney and Elizabeth Burton, Harrison and Cassidy Wheeler and one sister, Carol Reitz of Wausau. June was preceded in death by her husband, Bill and brother-in-law, Herb Reitz.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 6, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 903 Third St, Wausau. Reverend Jayneanne McIntosh will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
