June Steckbauer

June E. Steckbauer passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Ministry Saint Clare's Hospital, Weston. She had resided for the past several years in Wausau and prior to that at the Veteran's Home in King.
June was born in Aniwa on July 31, 1929 to Charles & Amanda (Fraedrich) Steckbauer.
She attended Aniwa State Graded School and graduated from Birnamwood High School in 1951. Following graduation, she proudly served in the Women's Air Force and later worked at a local telephone company.
Early in her life she enjoyed playing basketball, trout fishing, & embroidery work and in later years loved eating licorice, working crossword puzzles, attending church & reading local newspapers.
June is survived by a brother, Lloyd (Iona) Steckbauer, Aniwa, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Betty Wartner.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wausau. Burial will be in Union Cemetary, Aniwa. Rev. Erik Olsen will officiate.
