Junice Braatz, 82, of the town of Stettin passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010 at Marywood Center.
She was born April 10, 1928 in the town of Hamburg to the late Walter and Mathilda (Voigt) Krohn. Junice married Walter Braatz on April 27, 1949 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Wausau. Before retirement, she was a teacher's aide at Stettin and Jefferson Elementary Schools.
Junice was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Marathon and belonged to the Ladies Aid and LWMS. She also volunteered at Aspirus Wausau Hospital Hospice unit and later the ICU waiting room. Her hobbies included gardening, canning, sewing and crafts.
Survivors include her husband, Walter, town of Stettin, her daughter, Diane (Michael) Scherer of Horicon, her son, Robert (Heidi) Braatz of Columbus, OH, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Jean (Mark) Timken of Weston, six sisters, Ethel Buttke of Wausau, LuAnn (William) Ruhbusch of Weston, Lois (Michael) Fasse of Brokaw, Geneva Weith of Wausau, Lorraine (William) Melanson of Wausau, Mavis Schoenherr of Wausau, two brothers, Donald (Lynn) Krohn of Wausau, Earlin (Marie) Krohn of Wausau and numerous nieces and nephews. Junice was preceded in death by her son, Brian, a brother, Layton Krohn and sister, Ardell Koenig.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Marathon. Rev. Jon Hadler will officiate. Burial will be in Stettin Christian Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
