Karen Sporer, 63, of Wausau passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015 at Mt. View Care Center.
She was born December 14, 1951 in Stambaugh, Michigan to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Crook) Sporer. She was a graduate of West Iron County High School in Iron River, MI. After moving to Wausau Karen began her career at Wausau Insurance. After 41 years of service, she retired in 2011 as a Billing Supervisor. Karen was an active member of St. Anne Parish. She volunteered during Polka Fest and helped in knitting prayer shawls. Karen enjoyed gardening, trips to the casinos, walking and taking care of her cat, Tess. She loved to travel with her best friend, Carole and was able to visit all 50 states.
Survivors include her aunt, Katherine Sporer of Caspian, MI, her uncle, John (Katherine) Sporer of Iron River, MI, several cousins and close friend, Carole Bobula of Wausau.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at St. Anne Parish, 700 West Bridge St., Wausau. Father Alan Burkhardt will officiate. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in the Stambaugh Cemetery. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
