Katherine Jeanette Laffin, 83, Wausau, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at her residence.
Katherine was born May 24, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Eddie and Kathryn (Schlinger) Johnson. She married the love of her life, Brian Laffin, on November 3, 1951 in Aniwa, WI. The couple was blessed with three children: Tom, Susan and Candy. Over the years, Katherine worked at a number of different retail stores in the Wausau area finally working at Don's Country Oven before retiring.
Katherine was a good woman who dearly loved her family and never shied away from speaking her mind. She was an excellent cook and baker and put her outstanding seamstress skills to use making clothing for her children and doll clothes for her daughters. Katherine enjoyed playing the piano and played at Wausau Bible Church for many years. Katherine delighted in going to the casino and playing the slot machines.
Katherine is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Brian; children, Tom Laffin, Susan (Dale) Kole and Candy (Mark) Radandt; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Johnson and Conrad Johnson and extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Chad Laffin, and 5 siblings.
The funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Easton. Pastor Ryan Fehrmann will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 9 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau; resuming at 10:00 AM on Monday at the church until the time of service.
