Kathleen Kinney dedicated her life in taking care of her family. Whether it was Spaghetti Thursdays or New Year’s Eve Steak night, she enjoyed creating special moments for her family.
Kathleen was born January 31, 1943 in Milwaukee to the late Joseph and Grace (Miller) Gutmann. After graduating from high school, she attended Marquette University graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing. On February 14, 1970, Kathleen married Tom Kinney in Rothschild. They made their home in Rib Mountain with Kathleen working as a Registered Nurse for Wausau Hospital Center. She was blessed with a nursing career that allowed her to serve God by helping others. Even after retiring, she continued taking care of people through her work with Interim Home Health Care. Reading, knitting and solving all types of word puzzles were some of Kathleen’s past times. She also loved spending time with her good friend, Ronnie.
At the age of 74, Kathleen passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Survivors include her four daughters, Julie Kinney of Rib Mountain, Joyce (Rhett) Hutchens of Austin, TX, Joanna Kinney of Rib Mountain and Janette (Nemecio Gonzalez) Kinney of Round Rock, TX, seven grandchildren, Thomas, Bryan, Julian, Monica, Jose, Ava and Colleen, one great grandson, Matthew, one brother, Dr. Jim Gutmann of Dallas, TX and one sister, Mary Schuldenberg of Menomonee Falls. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Tom on October 21, 1987.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 20, 2018 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 1104 S. 9th Ave., Wausau. Father Robert Thorn will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
