Ken was born
September 13, 1918
in Merrill to the late Leo and Emily Schreiber. He married Pat Schwartz on
May 17, 1941
in
Wausau
. Ken served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. He worked for many years as a Realtor in
Wausau
, co-owning Tri City Realty and later working for Double Diamond. Ken was the owner of the Mayflower Moving Company, owner of the Maple Leaf Motel, and also had spent ten years in
Canada
logging with his father-in-law. Ken was a founding member of
Pilgrim
Lutheran
Church
and enjoyed singing in the church choir. He enjoyed gardening, singing, golf, playing cards and as a younger man enjoyed bowling league. Ken was also an avid Packer fan, had many friends and loved animals. He was very outgoing and believed in starting every day with a smile.
Survivors include his wife Pat of Wausau, and one daughter Patti Jones (Joe Brandom) of
Boca Raton
,
Fla.
Ken was preceded in death by 3 sisters; Adele Gahnz, Leona Schreiber, and Lydia Gruett.
Funeral services will be
2 p.m.
Saturday September 20, 2008
at the
Pilgrim
Lutheran
Church
. The pastor Dennis Creswell will officiate. Burial will be in
Pine
Grove
Cemetery
. Visitation will be Saturday from
1:30 p.m.
until the time of services at the church. Helke Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
