Laurie (Grosskopf) Eggebrecht, 85, of Wausau died peacefully on November 4, 2010 at Rennes Rehab Center in Weston. She was born January 16, 1925 to Edward and Elsie (Wesner) Grosskopf. Laurie attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Wausau High School. On May 18th 1946 she married Ervin Eggebrecht and they had three children. David (Audrey) Eggebrecht, Phillips WI, Julie (Clarence) Niziolek, Rothschild WI and Kathy (Terry) Phillips of Weston WI.
For many years Laurie worked at Citizens State Bank and Trust Co in many capacities in their bookkeeping department, eventually becoming the head bookkeeper. She enjoyed being part of a bowling team and she maintained relationships for many years with friends she grew up with and those from high school as well as those she met as an adult. She became skilled at counted cross stitch after Erv died and made many beautiful pieces, often for gifts for friends and relatives. Laurie had a soft spot in her heart for animals particularly golden retrievers. She was an avid Brewers fan and followed their progress closely.
Survivors besides her children include 7 grandchildren; Keith (Rochelle) Eggebrecht of Greenville WI, Mike (Dr. Melanie) Eggebrecht of Phillips WI, Polly Niziolek of Madison WI, Bonnie Niziolek of Denver CO, Mary Niziolek of Weston WI, and Tucker and Carly Phillips of Weston WI. She is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren; Dylan and Bailey Eggebrecht of Greenville WI and Jada and Kacy Eggebrecht of Phillips WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Erv, two infant grandsons and her sister Irene Rouleau of Madison WI.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Monday, November 8, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Reverend Gary Schultz will be officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM and last until the time of services at the church on Monday. Entombment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum following the funeral.
