Laurin “Sarge” Jehn was born January 30, 1926 in Naugart to the late Martin and Frances (Fehlhaber) Jehn. He was a 1943 graduate of Wausau High School. Sarge married the love of his life, Marion Borchardt, October 11, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church. For many years Sarge supported his family by over-the-road trucking and in his later years he worked security for Kraft and then Gordon Aluminum where he finally retired.
Throughout his life, Sarge was a very happy man whose social nature allowed him to quickly become friends with any stranger that he met. He most loved his time spent with family and the many get togethers over the years at the cottage up north. Sarge and Marion enjoyed fishing together and were very active members of Zion Lutheran Church, even heading the Young at Heart group for a time. Even during the past few years when his health began to waver, Sarge’s faith in his Lord never did. His bright and cheery outlook prevailed and his faith led him to peace. Laurin M. Jehn, 84, Wausau, went to be with his Lord, Jesus Tuesday May 18, 2010 surrounded by his family at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Laurin is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Marion; children, Lynell (John) Huber, Theron “Butch” Jehn and Lori (Matt) Heyne; grandchildren, Jodi (Vincent) LaCalamita, Jason Heyne and Stephanie Jehn; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Emily LaCalamita; sister, Inez Peterson; and many extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his son, Randy Lee Jehn.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 21, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau. Reverend Steven Gjerde will be officiating.
