Lavern Cecil Tourtillott Jr., 79, of Wausau, passed away on July 4, 2018 at Stone Crest Residence, Wausau. He was born on April 7, 1939 in Keshena, the son of the late Lavern and Rose (Heath) Tourtillott Sr. Vern was a 1958 graduate of Shawano High School playing several sports including football, basketball and track. He loved baseball, playing for Keshena and Neopit in the Badger Amateur Baseball Association, and was also an accomplished bowler. Lavern was always willing to share his knowledge of sports and how to play them. In his free time he was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, and deer and bear hunting with family and friends, as well as the memories they shared and created over the years.
Survivors include his children, Todd Tourtillott of Elgin, IL, Troy Tourtillott of Shawano, Trina Tourtillott Jackson of Telluride, CO, and Thomas (Terri) Tourtillott of Wausau; grandchildren, Danielle (Ryan) Kolz of Arlington Heights, IL, Michelle Tourtillott of Indianapolis, IN, Courtney (Darwin Grignon) Tourtillott of Suamico, Joseph Tourtillott of Shawano, Benjamin “Frank” Jackson of Telluride, CO, and William Tourtillott of Wausau; great-grandson, Camron Grignon of Suamico; siblings, Ron (Nita) Tourtillott of Milwaukee, Renee (John) Stapley of Marion, IA, Lyle (Yolonda) Tourtillott of Milwaukee, and Barbara (Steve Feather) Tourtillott of Neopit; and many dear family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his second wife, Barb (Kaquatosh) Tourtillott.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at St. Anthony Parish, BIA Rte 431, Neopit. Visitation will be at the St. Anthony Community Center, W6797 Church St., Neopit, beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, until the time of service on Saturday. There will be a parish wake service at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018, at the community center. Burial will be in St. Anthony Parish Cemetery, Neopit, following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Homme Adult Day Center.
