Lavon T. Gifford, 83, Wausau, died peacefully on May 25, 2017, surrounded by her family, at North Central Health Care - Gardenside Crossing in Wausau.
She was born August 25, 1933, in New Richmond, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Verna Thoreson. She graduated from Roberts High School, worked as a secretary in St. Paul, Minnesota, and in 1952 married Robert Gifford at her family's home in Roberts, Wisconsin.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Gifford; children, Tammie McCarthy and Tim (Ann) Gifford; sister, Maren Thoreson; grandchildren, John (Jill) McCarthy, Kaeley Gifford, and Andrew Gifford.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Thomas Paul.
Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Wausau, 406 Grant Street, on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. with visitation at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. A dinner will be served at the church after the service. Private entombment will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park.
