Lawrence Burch

Lawrence Burch, 87, of the town of Texas passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was extremely proud to be able to donate his body for research to the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine.
He was born October 3, 1927 in Brooklyn Center, MN to the late Stanley and Mary (Lange) Burch. Lawrence served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and was a member of the Honor Flight in 2013. On August 21, 1978, he married Grace Mattice in Mitchell, SD. For 30 years, Lawrence was employed at Wausau Papers in Brokaw until his retirement. Whether it was working in his garden, rock collecting, deer hunting or fishing, Lawrence loved being outdoors. He enjoyed going to flea markets, collecting antiques and for many years volunteered at the Marathon County Public Library.
Survivors include his wife, Grace, son, Richard both of the town of Texas, daughter, Anne (Lawrence) Gibby of Colcord, OK, and five grandchildren, Joshua, Thaddeaus, Joseph, Lucas and Candace Burch.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his son, David, daughter-in-law, Gayle, two brothers, Raymond and Don and sister, Lorraine Thomas.
Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 3, 2015 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 930 Edgewood Road, Wausau. Reverend Kemp Jones will officiate. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
