Lawrence Korpita

Lawrence was born March 1st 1947, the son of the late Frank L. and Mary A. (Dollhey) Korpita, in Gary, IN. After graduating from Hobert High School in 1965, Lawrence enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. He earned the rank of staff sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1972. On September 5th 1980, Lawrence was united in marriage to Beverly Luna Ingvaldson, in Grand Rapids, MN. The couple resided in Hibbing, MN until 1989, when they relocated to Wausau.

Throughout his life, Lawrence worked in construction. For 15 years, he belonged to the Millwright Local #1056, Wausau, where he worked as a project manager, retiring in 2003. Lawrence and Bev are members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wausau; and Lawrence was a longtime member of the V.F.W. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and also enjoyed watching NASCAR.

On October 19th 2013, Lawrence Rae Korpita, 66, died at Mount View Nursing Home, with his family at his side.

Lawrence will be remembered by his loving family, including his wife, Bev; five children, Cheryl Reynolds and her sons, Christopher (Jessica) and Tyler, Brian (Mandy) Korpita and their children, Claudia, Eli, and Carly, Jody (Mark) Michlig and their children, Trevor and Madisyn, Kristie (Dwight) Steinke and their children, Tyler, Paige, and Mitch, and Richard (Loni) Korpita and their son, Waylon; two siblings, Debbie (Jim) Alexander and Paul Korpita; along with other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Noon, Friday, October 25th, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wausau, with Reverend Nancy Johnson Russell officiating. Military honors will be provided by the V.F.W. Burns Post, #388, Wausau. The family will receive guests on Friday, at church, beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
