Le-Roy Gliniecki

August 21, 1928 — February 23, 2015

Le-Roy "Lee" Bazil Gliniecki, 86, of Wausau passed away on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Mt. View Care Center.
He was born on August 21, 1928 in Wausau to the late Bernard and Dorothy (Ostrowski) Gliniecki. Lee graduated from Wausau High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1951 to assist his mother in caring for his younger brother and sister. Lee met Mae Lensmire at a dance at Rib River Ballroom where they both loved to dance. The friendship continued thru the 40's and 50's. On August 11, 1953 they were married at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marathon with the reception at Rib River where they first met.

Lee was employed at American Can and retired from Lignotech in 1990 after 38 years of service. Since March of 1963, Lee and Mae lived in the home that Lee designed and built along with the help of Milt Gabrielski and Larry and Ted Gliniecki. In 1964 and 1965, Lee and Mae adopted their children Marie and David. Lee enjoyed his summer vacations with his family and renting the same cottage on the Eagle River Chain of Lakes for 30 years. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing along with his casino trips. Lee was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church where in his younger years, he volunteered, ushered and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Forester Court #498 and the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10.

Survivors include his daughter, Marie Seitz of Wausau, son, David (Connie) Gliniecki of Merrill, granddaughter, Sara Gliniecki, two sisters, Gertrude Gabrielski of Wausau and Gloria (Richard) Milanowski of Sundance, WY, sisters-in-law, Joni Gliniecki, Winnie Kaiser and Alvina Lensmire, brothers-in-law, Lawrence (Joan) Wirkus, Warren (Grace) Lensmire and John (Lynn) Lensmire. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae, three brothers and their wives, Larry (Jackie), Bernie (Rita), Ted, three brothers-in-law, Milton Gabrielski, Virgil Kaiser and Calvin Lensmire, niece, Heidi Lensmire and nephew, Scott Gliniecki.

The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 1104 S. 9th Ave., Wausau. Father Tom Huff will officiate. Immediately following Mass, full military honors will be presented by the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com

The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Smith, Mt. View Care Center and Cory from TLC for the wonderful care they gave Lee.

Lee was one of the good guys-wonderful husband, father and grandpa.
