Leonard was born April 20, 1932, the son of the late Andrew and Eleanor (Wick) Weinand. On February 27, 1950, he married Dolores Jean Jones and together they shared 60 years together, raising their children and enjoying life. A talented wood craftsman, Leonard and Dolores travelled throughout the Midwest for many years, selling their crafts at art shows. He also owned a gas station and sporting goods store in Lac Du Flambeau.
Leonard Andrew Weinand, 78, of Wausau, formerly of Spirit, WI, passed away July 9, 2010, surrounded by his family, at Marywood Convalescent Center, Wausau.
He is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Dolores; 5 children, Deanna Kennedy, St. Paul, MN, Nancy (Dan) Junio, Green Bay, WI, Daniel Weinand, Wausau, Shirlee (Robert) Heikkinen, Brantwood, WI, and Steven Weinand, Wausau; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Smith, Green Bay, WI; and other family members and friends.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his twin infants, Jack and Jill; and sister, Betty Johnson.
Friends are welcome to gather at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, July 17th, at Marywood Convalescent Center, 1821 N. 4th Ave., Wausau. There will be a memorial celebration of Leonard’s life at 2:00 p.m., with refreshments following.
