Leonhard John Seehafer, age 88, of Rib Falls Twp., Marathon Co., WI died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Golden Living-Continental Manor, Abbotsford, WI. He was surrounded by his family as he passed into eternal sleep.

Leonhard was born on April 25, 1919, the youngest of four children to Louis and Augusta (Steidinger) Seehafer. He was baptized May 11, 1919 at the home of his parents and later confirmed his faith in Jesus as his Lord and Savior on April 9, 1933 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Hamburg Twp. On October 24, 1942 he was united in marriage with Doris Graveen at Salem Lutheran Church, Hamburg Twp. The Lord blessed their marriage with two sons, Lester and Dale, and one daughter, LouAnn.

Leonhard was a life long resident of Rib Falls Township and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Rib Falls. He was a devoted family man and with the help of his wife beside him, he farmed all his life. Though other odd jobs were taken in his lifetime he was always a farmer at heart. His other interests besides his family included fishing, raising bees and hunting. He was a quiet man by nature but still he left his family and friends with many great loving memories that could only be related to his wonderful sense of humor and caring. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

Survivors include his wife, Doris; daughter, LouAnn (Robert R.) Hoff of Wausau; son, Dale (Laurie) Seehafer of Marathon; and daughter-in-law, Jorene (Rodney) Sabatke of Merrill. Eight grandchildren, Rev. Daniel (Denise) Seehafer, Christine (John) Luedtke, Lynda (Victor) Smith, Robin (Debra) Hoff, Renea Hoff, Jolene (Adam) Matsche, Michelle and Christopher Seehafer; five great-grandchildren, Jacob Seehafer, Ethan Luedtke, Eric and Kytaira Smith, and Robert A. Hoff; three step-great-grandchildren, Tom Cimino Jr., Don (Vanessa) Cimino and Amanda Cimino; one step-great-great-granddaughter, Amelia Cimino; and one sister-in-law, Darlene (Milton) Gutknecht of Wausau.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Lester Seehafer; one great-granddaughter, Lauren Seehafer; two brothers, Ernhardt and Ervin Seehafer and one sister, Selma Kickbush.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rib Falls. Rev. Terry Reich will be officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, and resuming at 9:30 AM the day of the service. Burial will follow the funeral service in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Hamburg.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Continental Manor for the excellent care given during Leonhard's time there. We could not have asked for more caring and loving individuals to watch over him during the months he spent there. We would also like to include our thanks to Pastor Reich for his prayers and support of Leonhard and his family.
