LeRoy Braunel

LeRoy "Bud" Henry Braunel, 88, of Weston, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Ministry St. Clare's Hospital.
He was born in the town of Marathon on May 30, 1927, to Edwin and Dorothy (Gresens) Braunel. Bud grew up in the farming community and attended the nearby country schoolhouse. After completing school he helped neighbors operate their farm. He later met Lorraine Gaulke and they were married on September 24, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wausau.
Bud was a hard worker and enjoyed his work as a plumber and carpenter. He worked for 3M, Wausau Homes, and later retired from Wausau Metals. While working, Bud was also a volunteer for the Rib Mountain Fire Department. He enjoyed his time tinkering and working in his workshop on cabinets or other projects, and liked making lots of firewood.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine of Weston; children, Dale (Joanne) Braunel of Wausau and Barbara (Ken) Durand of Kingman, AZ; grandchildren, Bill (Lisa) Cook, Rich (Laurie) Cook, and Andy Braunel; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Jane Ross of Edgar, Carol (Ernest) Blaubach of Marathon, and Dawn Mae (Erdman) Burish of Marathon; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Dorothy; brothers, Merlyn and DuWayne; sisters, Doris and Lucille; and brothers-in-law, Verlyn Ross and Donald Erdman.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2016, at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau, with Rev. Joy Nelson-Jeffers officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, town of Texas.
