Leroy Radke, 89, Wausau, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Leroy was born on November 16, 1918 in the Town of Stettin to the late Herman and Amanda (Beilke) Radke. Leroy was united in marriage to Arlene Graveen in the Town of Stettin on May 17, 1947. Leroy and Arlene celebrated forty-seven wonderful years together prior to her death on October 21, 1999.
Leroy was a very hardworking man, often working two jobs supporting his family. For many years he drilled wells in addition to working with wood at various employers throughout the years. Leroy loved sweets, especially chocolate and soda. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Apart from his family, Leroy's greatest love was nature and all of God's creatures. He had a soft spot for any animal that he found and took great care them.
Leroy is survived by four sons, Merlin (Nancy) of Mississippi, Steven of Eau Claire, Randy (Lisa) of Wausau, and David of Schofield; two daughters, Susie (David) Stazak of Wausau and Cindy Franklin of Schofield; eleven grandchildren, Jason, Anne, Amber, Dillon, Christopher, Daniel, Chelsea, Chad, Justin, Dean, and Matthew; six great-grandchildren, Casey, Jeffrey, Tiffany, Amelia, Spencer, and Ella; two sisters, Ruth Venske of Wausau and Julie (Louis) Thurs of Wausau; and many more extended family and friends. Leroy is preceded in death by three sisters; Hattie, Della, and Erna, and three brothers; Herman, Arnold, and Johnnie.
Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Friday, April 11, 2008 at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Pastor Gary Schultz will be officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM on Friday until the time of services at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the funeral services at Restlawn Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Wausau.
