Lily Etta Marie Sippl, 92, Wausau, died Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Wausau Manor under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services with her loving family by her side.
Etta was born on June 1, 1924 in Antigo to the late Bernard and Ruth (Peterson) Lenzner. She graduated from Antigo High School. Etta married the love of her life, James George Sippl Sr. on September 2, 1946 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wausau. The couple was blessed with six children; James Jr., Robert, Michael, Kathleen, Linda and Patti. Etta and James celebrated 48 loving years together prior to his death on March 5, 1995.
Etta was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. Family was the most important thing in her life and her happiest times were spent hosting Sunday dinners. The family would gather for one of her excellent meals and then play cards together, enjoying each other's company. Over the years, Etta also enjoyed visiting many casinos trying her luck at the one-armed bandits.
Etta is survived by her loving children, James Jr. (Deb), Robert (Carol), Michael (Donna), Kathleen (Lanny) Borchardt, Linda Stankowski and Patti (Bill) Pardi; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joani Lenzner; and extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her great-grandson, Brayden Burk; siblings, Willard (Stella) Lenzner, Roy "Bud" (Gloria) Lenzner, Russell Lenzner and Delores (Connely) Henderson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Church of the Resurrection Catholic Church, Wausau. Fr. James Schaefer will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of service on Thursday at the church. Committal will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Town of Texas, following the funeral mass.
